    Biography

    Maria Gaetana Agnesi was the daughter of Pietro Agnesi who came from a wealthy family who had made their money from silk.

    Pietro Agnesi had twenty-one children with his three wives and Maria was the eldest of the children. As Truesdell writes in [20], Pietro Agnesi:-
